Commute Seattle is a 501c(3) nonprofit Transportation Management Association founded in 2004 with a mission to foster mobility partnerships and services to keep Seattle moving and thriving for all. We are supported by local governments and transit agencies and are part of a larger organization consisting of the Downtown Seattle Association and Metropolitan Improvement District. Commute Seattle partners with employers and institutions to implement sustainable transportation options and trip reduction strategies that positively change commute behavior, improve quality of life, and support economic and environmental goals. The Transportation Specialist is a vital part of a team supporting a nationally recognized Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program in a city with cutting edge multi-modal transportation and new mobility programs. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

The Sr. Transportation Specialist works as part of a team to provide best-practice transportation technical assistance, support, and guidance to Seattle’s largest employers (affected by Washington State’s Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) law) and large buildings with City – mandated Transportation Management Programs (TMPs).  Alongside knowledge of Seattle’s transportation options, the specialist uses employer best practice research and excellent customer service skills to aid large businesses and buildings across Seattle to: 

  1. Achieve compliance with state and city mandates,  
  2. Implement a workplace commuter survey, biennial reporting, and  
  3. Provide effective TDM solutions for their employees.   

      Another key objective for the specialist is educational programming for business and property managers, including trainings, events, and associated collateral materials.  This work is carried out under Commute Seattle’s service agreement with the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and the Sr. Specialist will work closely with program staff at the agency. 

      RESPONSIBILITIES 

      • Track contract deliverables, maintain client database system, and fulfill all internal and external administrative functions associated with the position  
      • Independently manage administrative processes such as new client outreach and onboarding, client offboarding, and client communication campaigns that reach 500+ worksites and properties  
      • Develop and implement criteria for content creation within the CTR program, including case studies, events, and trainings 
      • Aid businesses and property managers to develop CTR/TMP programs and evaluate each program’s effectiveness and compliance with City and State requirements   
      • Provide timely and friendly customer service to employers and property managers seeking information about transportation options 
      • Plan and execute high-quality educational/informational seminars, brown bag presentations, one-on-one meetings, and small group presentations 
      • Work collaboratively and directly with partner organizations and funders which include King County Metro, Washington State Department of Transportation, and the City of Seattle. Represent current partner products, services, promotions, and policies accurately and professionally. 
      • Comprehend, analyze, evaluate, and communicate technical information in writing and/or orally to a broad range of audiences 
      • Meet deadlines and manage complex projects within a fast-paced, high-volume environment with internal and external stakeholders 
      • Generate new, and lead on, executing fee-for-service contracts with business customers 
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications 

      • A minimum of 3+ years of related employment which may include client management, account management, transportation demand management, commute trip reduction, consultative sales, transportation planning, or another related field 
      • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work independently and as part of a team on sensitive issues with a diverse group of individuals including agency partners and business customers 
      • Experience with budgeting and program evaluation/management (higher education or on-the-job experience) 

        Desirable Qualifications 

        • Passion for multi-modal transportation, sustainability, and/or affordability 
        • Ability to develop and present persuasive information to groups, public speaking experience 
        • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize work assignments, and consistently meet deadlines 
        • Experience using Tableau software, Adobe Creative programs, GIS or other mapping/analysis software, and social media platforms

        COMPENSATION 

        We are committed to internal and market equity. The hourly range for this position is $29.10 – $43.65. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, internal and market data/salary ranges, and the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We will hire at the beginning of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employee’s performance, professional development, and increases in responsibilities and duties.
