We’re in the final week of this summer’s Revive I-5 northbound construction, with southbound construction on the way later this year.
This weekend, there will be another full northbound I-5 closure from I-90 interchange to NE 45th Street.

What’s happening when:
🚧 Now until 11:59pm on Friday, Aug. 15 – Northbound I-5 across the Ship Canal Bridge is reduced to two lanes.
⛔Aug. 15 – Aug. 18 – I-5 north is fully closed from the I-90 interchange to NE 45th street to remove the work zone. The freeway will be closed starting at 11:59pm Friday and will re-open early Monday morning.
🚗Express lanes are open northbound 24/7 during construction through early morning Aug. 18. Express lanes will resume normal operation once construction ends.
🚧Work will shift to southbound I-5 lanes later this fall. Revive I-5 construction will continue through 2027.

Aug. 15 – 18 Full weekend closure of northbound I-5 from I-90 to NE 45th St. Express lanes will be open northbound.

I need to drive, what do I need to know?
People traveling north of downtown Seattle during the full closure weekend Aug 15 – 18. should use the express lanes. The I-5 express lanes will run northbound during the full closures 24/7.
What exits will be open for people driving to downtown?
Exit 164B (Edgar Martinez Drive) and Exit 164A (Dearborn, James, or Madison Streets) will be open. All other northbound I-5 exits to downtown Seattle will be closed during the two weekend closures.

I am traveling southbound, what do I do?
People commuting southbound should leave earlier to avoid additional traffic due to the express lanes not operating.
