Long before Seattle became known as one of the best places in the country for biking enthusiasts, the city was building in-city bike lanes and interurban trails. Seattle has looked for ways to make it easy for its daily commuters to leave their cars at home.
Our city structure provides many travel options — making a bike commute smooth and easy. Metro buses are outfitted with bike racks if you need to combine busing with biking. Washington State Ferries offer surcharge free rides, and BikeStation Seattle is available from 9am to 5pm during the workweek. You can get the best bike route info from Seattle bike maps and King County bike maps.
Are you more than the average bike commuter? The Cascade Bicycle Club, Seattle Bicycle Club, and Bicycle Alliance of Washington offer plenty of helpful information for advanced cyclists and newcomers alike. Additional bike transportation help can be found at the Seattle Department of Transportation and Washington State DOT.
